Gov. Malloy: Federal Court Continues to Affirm Department of Children and Families’ Progress and Orders New Juan F. Exit Plan
Governor Dannel P. Malloy today announced that the U.S. District Court overseeing the Juan F. consent decree has ordered changes to the decree, including a streamlined monitoring process and adequate staffing levels, which will enable the Department of Children and Families (DCF) to achieve better outcomes for children and families and ultimately result in an end to decades of court jurisdiction.

Gov. Malloy Announces Housing Unit at Manson Youth Institution to Close as a Result of Juvenile Justice Reforms and Declining Crime Rate
Governor Dannel P. Malloy today announced that as a result of the state’s recently enacted juvenile justice reforms and the continuing decline in the crime rate and prison population, the Connecticut Department of Correction (DOC) will be closing one of the ten housing units at the Manson Youth Institution in Cheshire. The unit closure will save the state over $600,000 in annual operating costs.

Gov. Malloy Urges Towns and Cities to Register for Program That Will Significantly Improve Accuracy of the Upcoming Census
Governor Dannel P. Malloy is urging municipalities across Connecticut to register for the U.S. Census Bureau’s Local Update of Census Address (LUCA) Program – an initiative created by the bureau as an opportunity for state and local governments to provide an updated and complete list of addresses in their communities in preparation for the federal government’s upcoming census in 2020.

Malloy today announced that – in accordance with a proclamation from President Donald Trump directing flags to be lowered to honor the victims of the mass shooting in Sutherland Springs, Texas – U.S. and state flags in Connecticut will fly at half-staff beginning immediately until sunset on Thursday, November 9, 2017.

Gov. Malloy Announces State of Connecticut and Tribal Nations File Federal Lawsuit to Compel the Approval of Gaming Agreements
Governor Dannel P. Malloy today announced that the State of Connecticut has joined the Mohegan and Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Nations in filing a lawsuit in federal court against the U.S. Department of the Interior (DOI) and Ryan Zinke, the Secretary of the Interior, over the agency’s failure to act on the gaming compact amendments the Governor recently entered into with the tribes.

Gov. Malloy Announces State Begins Providing Reimbursements to Northeastern Connecticut Homeowners for Testing of Crumbling Foundations
Governor Dannel P. Malloy today announced that the state’s testing program for homeowners in northeastern Connecticut impacted or potentially impacted by the ongoing crumbling foundation problem has opened its application process and eligible homeowners can now begin applying to receive reimbursements for the testing of their homes. The state is making $5 million available to provide assistance related the costs of testing foundations for homeowners, which will better provide the state with data related to the scope of the situation while providing homeowners with another level of financial relief.

Malloy today released the following statement in response to the decision issued this afternoon by the U.S. Immigrations and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agency granting Miriam Martinez-Lemus, a Stamford mother who came to the United States in 1992 fleeing political violence in her home country of Guatemala, a stay in her immigration case and allowing her to remain with her family.

Gov. Malloy: State Launches New Website and Mobile App to Better Connect Veterans to the Benefits and Services They Have Earned
Governor Dannel P. Malloy today announced that, as residents across the nation are preparing to celebrate Veterans Day, the State of Connecticut has debuted two new digital initiatives to assist the more than 200,000 veterans who live in the state in an effort to better connect veterans with the information on benefits and services that are available – a redesigned website for the Connecticut Department of Veterans Affairs (DVA), and a newly launched smartphone app.

Gov. Malloy Announces Opening of New Train Station in Wallingford That Will Serve the Hartford Line
Governor Dannel P. Malloy today joined Connecticut Department of Transportation (CTDOT) Commissioner James P. Redeker and numerous federal, state, and local officials to celebrate the grand opening of the newly constructed train station in Wallingford. Located at 343 North Cherry Street, the station will immediately begin providing service to existing Amtrak trains and soon will begin serving trains on the CTrail Hartford Line, the passenger rail service currently under construction and scheduled to launch in the middle of next year that will provide commuters with more frequent train service between New Haven, Hartford, and Springfield.
