    Governor Dannel P. Malloy today released the following statement in response to recent reports of a memo from State Treasurer Denise L. Nappier citing the additional costs associated with recent changes to the Teachers’ Retirement System.

  • 12/26/2017 Gov. Malloy Activates State’s Severe Cold Weather Protocol Through Next Tuesday

    Governor Dannel P. Malloy today announced that in anticipation of temperatures over the next several days that are forecast to be bitter cold with negative wind chill factors at times, he is activating the state’s Severe Cold Weather Protocol beginning today and remaining in effect through Tuesday, January 2, 2018. This is the first time so far this winter season that the protocol has been enacted.

  • 12/26/2017 Gov. Malloy Directs State Agencies to Conduct Review of Sexual Harassment Prevention Procedures

    Governor Dannel P. Malloy today announced that – in light of the ongoing, national conversation regarding sexual harassment in the workplace – he has signed an executive order directing the State of Connecticut’s policies and procedures on the topic to be reviewed within all executive branch state agencies to ensure that the state, as an employer, has effective strategies in place and to determine whether there are opportunities for improvement to achieve better outcomes for all employees.

  • 12/8/2017 Gov. Malloy: Holiday Open House at the Governor’s Residence Canceled Saturday Due to Parking Ban on Local Roads

    Governor Dannel P. Malloy today announced that because the City of Hartford and the Town of West Hartford have implemented parking bans on all municipal streets beginning on the morning of Saturday, December 9, and lasting throughout the day, the previously scheduled Holiday Open House at the Governor’s Residence that was to be held from 10:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m. that day has been canceled due to lack of available parking.

  • 12/22/2017 Gov. Malloy Announces Connecticut Opts into FirstNet Network

    Governor Dannel P. Malloy today announced his decision to accept the State of Connecticut into the federal First Responder Network Authority plan to deliver a wireless broadband network to the state’s public safety community. Known as FirstNet, the state-of-the-art technology will connect first responders to a highly secure, wireless broadband network and enhance communications during emergency and disaster response situations.

  • 12/22/2017 Gov. Malloy Announces $31 Million to Support the Development of Affordable Housing in Connecticut

    Governor Dannel P. Malloy, Department of Housing (DOH) Commissioner Evonne M. Klein, and Connecticut Housing Finance Authority (CHFA) Executive Director Karl Kilduff, today announced that more than $31 million in state funding is being awarded to support the development of affordable housing projects in ten communities across Connecticut.

    Governor Dannel P. Malloy and Lt. Governor Nancy Wyman are urging the U.S. House of Representatives to reject the Concealed Carry Reciprocity Act of 2017, which is currently pending before Congress and would allow more dangerous criminals and untrained individuals to carry loaded, hidden guns in public places by forcing states with strong concealed carry laws to honor permits from states with weak or non-existent standards.

  • 12/6/2017 Gov. Malloy Directs Flags to Half-Staff Thursday in Honor of Pearl Harbor Remembrance Day

    Governor Dannel P. Malloy today announced that he is directing U.S. and State of Connecticut flags to be lowered to half-staff from sunrise to sunset on Thursday, December 7, 2017, in recognition of National Pearl Harbor Remembrance Day. The national observation honors the lives lost in the attack on Pearl Harbor in 1941. Accordingly, since no flag should fly higher than the U.S. flag, all other flags – including state, municipal, corporate, or otherwise – should also be lowered during this same duration of time.

    Governor Dannel P. Malloy is reiterating and increasing his warnings on the status of the state’s Special Transportation Fund (STF) following the release of a new report showing that the solvency of the fund is in growing jeopardy. The report lays out numerous state transportation projects in towns and cities across Connecticut that would be at risk of cancellation or deferral if the state does not take corrective action to support the STF.

  • 12/7/2017 Gov. Malloy Announces Launch of State’s ‘Fresh Start’ Tax Initiative

    Governor Dannel P. Malloy along with Department of Revenue Services (DRS) Commissioner Kevin Sullivan today announced that DRS is launching the CT Fresh Start program – a voluntary compliance initiative available to both individuals and businesses that provides incentives to taxpayers who report and pay their outstanding, unreported tax liabilities to the state. This program, which was created by the bipartisan state budget Governor Malloy signed into law on October 31, is aiming to bring in $60 million to the state by the end of FY18 and an additional $25 million by November 30, totaling $85 million.

    Governor Dannel P. Malloy and Lt. Governor Nancy Wyman released the following statements regarding this morning’s attack at the Port Authority Bus Terminal in Manhattan.
