• 8/9/2024 DEEP Releases First 20BY26 Progress Report

  (HARTFORD, CT) – Today, the Connecticut Department of Energy and Environmental Protection (DEEP) released the first report on the progress of DEEP’s 20BY26 initiative. This initiative, launched in February, builds on the foundation of DEEP’s highly successful 20BY20 initiative by setting 20 new targets to meet by the end of 2026 to make DEEP’s processes even more predictable, transparent, and efficient. These ongoing improvements will, in turn, benefit our state’s municipalities, businesses, other regulated entities, and residents.

  (HARTFORD) — The Connecticut Department of Energy and Environmental Protection (DEEP) has received proposals from four project developers under its multistate Request For Proposals (RFP) with Massachusetts and Rhode Island.

• 11/22/2024 DEEP Releases Second 20BY26 Progress Report

  (HARTFORD, CT) – Today, the Connecticut Department of Energy and Environmental Protection (DEEP) released its second report describing the work its teams pursued in the summer of 2024 toward the agency’s ambitious 20BY26 Initiative. 20BY26 launched in February 2024 and released its first progress report in August 2024. This initiative builds on the foundation of DEEP’s highly successful 20BY20 Initiative by setting 20 new targets to meet by the end of 2026 to make DEEP’s processes even more predictable, transparent, and efficient. The goal of these ongoing improvements is to keep striving for better and more innovative ways to serve our state’s municipalities, businesses, other regulated entities, and residents. 

• 5/3/2024 DEEP Kellogg Environmental Center Artist Exhibition

  (HARTFORD) — The Connecticut Department of Energy and Environmental Protection (DEEP) announced that beginning May 7th through June 14th, Connecticut artist Marsha Borden will showcase her exhibit “The Tides They Are A-Changin’: Harmful Algal Blooms of Long Island Sound” at the Kellogg Environmental Center at Osbornedale State Park in Derby, Connecticut.

• 1/12/2024 Governor Lamont Announces Connecticut Awarded $14.6 Million Federal Grant To Expand Electric Vehicle Charging Stations in Seven Communities

  (HARTFORD, CT) – Governor Ned Lamont today announced that the U.S. Department of Transportation is awarding the Connecticut Department of Energy and Environmental Protection with a $14.6 million grant through its Charging and Fueling Infrastructure Grant Program to expand Connecticut’s network of electric vehicle charging stations. The program is funded by the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law.

• 7/24/2024 Governor Lamont Announces Connecticut’s Participation in the U.S. Department of Energy’s Better Climate Challenge

  (HARTFORD, CT) – Governor Ned Lamont today announced that the State of Connecticut has joined the U.S. Department of Energy’s (DOE) Better Climate Challenge, becoming one of more than 50 organizations across the United States that are stepping up to the challenge and driving real-world action toward a low-carbon future. In joining the challenge, the state is committing to reduce portfolio-wide greenhouse gas emissions by at least 50% within ten years and work with DOE to share successful solutions and decarbonization strategies.

  (Hartford, CT) - The Connecticut Department of Energy and Environmental Protection (DEEP), along with many local fire departments, and state and out-of-state resources, continues to respond to several wildfires across the state, including in Berlin, Canaan, Vernon, and Weston.

• 5/20/2024 DEEP Announces More Than $980,000 in Grants for Marine Sewage Disposal Facilities for the 2024 Boating Season

  (HARTFORD) — The Connecticut Department of Energy and Environmental Protection (DEEP) announced today that 30 marine pumpout facilities will receive $980,982 in funding for the 2024 boating season under DEEP’s annual Federal Clean Vessel Act (CVA) program. This program is an effort to improve water quality in Connecticut’s navigable waterways by providing federally funded matching grants for qualifying projects that provide boat sewage disposal facilities, more commonly known as pumpouts.

• 3/19/2024 Final Days to Register for DEEP's 4th Connecticut Youth Climate Summit

  (HARTFORD) — The registration deadline for the Connecticut Department of Energy and Environmental Protection (DEEP)’s free online Connecticut Youth Climate Summit is only days away. The summit will take place on Tuesday, March 26th from 8:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. This event marks the fourth virtual summit collaboratively developed with DEEP staff and a committee of young climate leaders from across the state. Teachers and other high school level educators are asked to register their schools and students no later than March 20, 2024.

• 6/3/2024 Governor Lamont Announces $10 Million in State Grants for Recreational Trails Across Connecticut

  (HARTFORD, CT) – Governor Ned Lamont and Connecticut Department of Energy and Environmental Protection (DEEP) Commissioner Katie Dykes today announced the release of a series of grants totaling $10 million that will support the planning, building, expansion, and improvement of 45 multi-use trails located in towns and cities throughout Connecticut.

  (HARTFORD) — The Department of Energy and Environmental Protection (DEEP) Environmental Conservation (EnCon) Police are working with a number of New Haven County police departments in an effort to deter illegal off-road vehicle use on the Larkin State Park Trail, a 10.3-mile trail through four towns.
